How to Review a Product Listing with AI: A Worked Example

To review a product listing with AI, provide the marketplace, your verified product facts, the current listing, and one specific question. Ask the AI to separate observations from assumptions, then verify its suggestions before editing your seller account.

This walkthrough uses a fictional two-mug listing to show that process. It is an editorial example, not a customer case study, a transcript of a live GoofProofeCom conversation, or evidence of improved sales.

1. Define the task before asking for a rewrite

Our example seller wants shoppers to understand what is included in a mug offer. The task is to review clarity and consistency. It is not to diagnose a penalty or predict search rankings.

The starting title is “Beautiful Coffee Cup Set Best Gift.” The example image shows two blue mugs, but the description says “one mug.” That mismatch is more important to resolve than finding a more attractive adjective.

If your actual problem is zero impressions, first use our Temu listing traffic checklist. A wording review alone cannot explain why a listing has no exposure.

2. Build a fact sheet

In this fictional example, the seller has checked the physical product and packaging and established the following facts:

  • Product: ceramic coffee mugs.

  • Quantity delivered: two mugs per order.

  • Color: blue.

  • Capacity: 12 oz per mug.

  • Care instructions: not yet verified.

  • Brand information: must be checked before the final listing is submitted.

The last two entries are deliberately unresolved. An AI draft should not turn “unknown” into “dishwasher-safe,” “microwave-safe,” or an invented brand. Keep the evidence behind each fact available for your own review.

3. Prepare a screenshot that answers a question

If you share a screenshot, include the relevant title, selected variation, and description. Remove customer details, order numbers, account identifiers, and other sensitive information. A tightly cropped image is easier to discuss than an entire account dashboard.

Copy important text into your message as well. Small text in an image can be misread. If you are asking about a metric, provide its name and reporting period; do not ask the AI to infer a hidden date range.

4. Use a prompt that separates facts from guesses

You can adapt this prompt to your own listing:

I sell on [marketplace and country]. Please review this listing for clarity and consistency. Current title: [title]. Description: [description]. Verified facts: [facts]. Unknowns: [details still to check]. First identify contradictions. Then suggest clearer wording using only the verified facts. Separate what you can observe from what needs verification. Do not infer a ranking penalty or invent product features.

For the mug example, the useful first finding would be the quantity mismatch: the verified offer contains two mugs, while the description says one. This is our editorial review of the example, not a claim about a particular AI response.

5. Review the suggested wording

A possible wording draft is “Ceramic Coffee Mugs, Pack of 2, 12 oz Each.” It replaces subjective language with product type, quantity, and capacity. It is not a ready-to-publish template for every marketplace.

Before using it, check the current requirements for your marketplace, category, brand, and variations. For a platform-specific discussion, see our TikTok Shop product title guide and its official references.

The description also needs attention. An editorial draft could say: “Includes two blue ceramic coffee mugs. Capacity: 12 oz per mug.” Care claims stay out until verified. The image, selected variation, and actual contents must agree with the text.

6. Ask a follow-up that checks the work

Instead of asking “Make it better,” try:

Compare your draft with my fact sheet. List any claims you added, any facts you omitted, and any remaining contradictions. Which details should I verify before publishing?

This gives you a specific review task. A confident answer is still not evidence: check each proposed feature against the product and each platform requirement against the applicable official guidance.

7. Save a change log

Record the original text, approved text, date, and reason for the change. In this example, the immediate result is a more consistent description of the offer. No traffic or sales improvement has been measured.

If you later compare performance, use comparable reporting periods and note changes to inventory, pricing, images, and promotions. Several simultaneous changes make it difficult to attribute an outcome to the wording alone.

Bring your own listing question

GoofProofeCom AI lets you ask seller questions, share screenshots, and continue with follow-ups. Learn what an AI eCommerce account manager can help with, or see the product walkthrough.

Open GoofProofeCom AI and bring one specific question plus the facts you can verify. You review the guidance and make changes in your own seller account.

Quick answers

Can AI approve my listing for a marketplace?

No. A draft or review is not platform approval. Follow the requirements and notices applicable to your account.

Do I need to share my seller login?

No seller account access is required for this GoofProofeCom AI guidance workflow. Share only the relevant information, with sensitive details removed.

Does clearer wording guarantee more sales?

No. This example demonstrates a review process and a consistency fix, not a measured sales result.
